So ever since I can remember I’ve always liked anime and nerdy things in general. I remember being a little kid flexing all my muscles (what few I had) till the point of shaking just to pretend as if my power level was going up like in Dragon Ball Z. I mean what kid wasn’t influenced by the things that they saw on t.v. right? But as years went on other kids started to get more and more into other things, no longer interested by Yusuke Urameshi’s adventures in the spirit realm or the good old digi-destined thwarting the evil Myotismon just because at the time it wasn’t cool. Now some people may have just grown out of watching those shows and might just associate watching anime with being childish just because they grew out of watching it when they were young.
That was until the huge craze over the show Attack on Titan or Shingeki no Kyojin as it’s known in Japan. This show became majorly more popular once the Fine Bros. played the first episode on their channels show called “Teens React”. Which let many peoples old child hood flame burn bright again. Now people seem more and more intrigued at the idea of watching anime. Which is super awesome for the people that never stopped watching it in the first place even though it may seem annoying to some. It's up to those to help their friends out and reignite the old anime flame that had burnt out years ago. Here's a small helping hand with a list of shows for people looking to get into anime.
Run Time: 6 Episodes 24 min each
Released: April 26, 2000 - March 16, 2001
Studio(s): Gainax & Production I.G
Honestly this is just one of the best anime shows of all time in my opinion, obviously if you disagree I don't really care. What makes this series so great for those getting into the anime game is that it's one of the few good shows that has good dubbing; so for those not used subtitles yet this is perfect. Also the number of episodes is pretty perfect too. In only 6 episodes with a fast paced show like this, it's easy for people to get lost in each episode and just marathon it in one sitting if they want. With great plot, characters, soundtrack and animation, this show is a no brainer to get into.
2. Cowboy Bebop
Run Time: 26 Episodes 24 min each
Released: April 3, 1998 - April 24, 1999
Pretty sweet series about a space bounty hunter named Spike and his partner Jet trying to make a living for themselves, but things don't always go as planned. With a great balance of action, comedy, and drama mixed in this series it's easily a must watch. Another series that I think the dubbed version sounds better than the Japanese.
Run Time: 12 Episodes 24 min each
Released: January 10, 2012 - March 27, 2012
Studio(s): P.A. Works
Do you like creepy things? Too many up-beat bubble gummy shows that you've seen so far? Well this series will be perfect for you then. New student arrives named Koichi Sakakibara, but due to illness he misses the first few weeks of school.
4. Tengen Topp Gurren Lagann
Run Time: 27 Episodes 24 min each
Released: April 1, 2007 - September 30, 2007
Very inspiring series that will get you hyped up and feel like you can do anything that you put your mind to it. The series focuses on Simon, a young boy who, with his self appointed-all around bass of a brother Kamina find treasure while digging one day. Sci-fi and fantasy series with great artwork, hilarious characters, and incredible action scenes. This show will have you spilling manly tears no matter what gender you are.
5. Hunter X Hunter
Run Time: 148 Episodes 24 min each
Released: October 2, 2011 - September 23, 2014
Not gonna sugar coat this the show, it is an investment of your time. At times it's just so easy to get lost in what's going on in the show or just be so invested that you have to continue onto the next episode. Cause let's be serious here: you're gonna end up watching 148 episodes of something any way whether it be 10 different shows that are kind of good. Why not just watch one series that is incredible the entire time?
Alright there's my quick list of stuff I think you should watch if you're new to anime or if you just are looking for new things to watch in general. Obviously there are plenty of other things that are great to watch out there as well, but if ya want an easy default of cool things, thought it would be nice to help you out. Hopefully this helped you find a new series that you'll love and if you're ever looking for anything else (cause you've seen these) feel free to leave a comment with shows you like to watch and I'll find something that you will like based off that.
