So this week I had that urge to crack open a booster pack and luckily with this site I can at least write about it instead of just breathing in that sweet cardboard smell and adding them to the always present stack of cards on my desk. So this week I am going to go over this pack as if it was the first pack in a DTK-DTK-FRF draft, and give some insight into what I would choose and why.
So lets begin with the commons in the pack:
So from just our commons we already have a decent pack, Black is looking like the strongest color so far with Vulturous Aven and Hand of Silumgar, and there are some great role players for the aggressive red decks in Sprinting Warbrute and Magmatic Chasm. Zephyr Scribe is also a card that seems strong in the right deck, but I think out of the commons the pick has to be Vulturous Aven. You get a 2/3 flier for 4 which is underwhelming but serviceable in most cases, but on top of that you have the exploit ability that lets you draw 2 card and lose 2 life, so essentially you can use this card as a sign in blood and in the right kind of deck you can get some major card advantage with this bird.
So lets see these uncommons:
Scion and Hunter are both good cards, but out of the two I would say Scion is the safer pick. It's a 4/4 flier for 6 which is pretty OK, but on top of that it's colorless so you don't have to get set in a color pair just yet, and you can put it safely in any deck.
and for the big daddy we get...
Yup. This makes things easier. Do you know whats better than a 4/4 flier for six? a 6/5 hasty flier sure is. This card, like all the other Dragonlords, is just a straight up bomb rare in limited. If you can draft a solid dash deck around Kolaghan, you shouldn't have a problem winning your next 8-4.
What would you guys pick in this pack? Do you think my assessment is off? Let me know!
