You got to give credit where its due. Marvel has done an amazing job keeping one their latest additions to Avengers: Age of Ultron under wraps. After so many trailers and TV spots we've only seen a shot of Vision opening his eyes with out there ever being a full body reveal. This week as part of interconnecting cover edition, Entertainment Weekly has a full body shot of this Avenger.
Of course I say "a picture" and not "the picture". This is not the introductory picture of Vision I was looking for. This is not the picture we deserve but the one we need right now...Sorry, mixing my up my nerd quotes.
The Vision has been something I have been looking forward to the most about this film. What is curious is that the character will be played by Paul Bettany, the actor who voices Tony Stark online assistant, Jarvis. He has only been a voice, a ghost almost in this franchise and will know finally have a face. Is this the next step in the evolution of Jarvis?
That being said, I have been dreaming of how this synthesized man will be realized in the Marvel films. So far, based on the EW cover I am disappointed.
He looks as though it is a combination of concept art and the actor faced photo shopped together. Is this the doing of Ultron? Why the hell is he purple?
Ok, I guess I can move past the whole purple thing; bright red wouldn't really work in a live action film. I can't help but get nervous when I see characters with bright costumes from the comics get the muted color treatment, makes me think of Man of Steel.
Thankfully though, Marvel has released another character poster with the Vision at its center.
This is beautiful. Here we get much more detail than any other 'picture" that has been released thus far. We can see the fabric and patterns of the costume and the intricate line work applied to the actor's face. This feels more like Vision and more importantly this feels more like there is an actual human being in the picture instead of some where photo shop/crop fest going on.
