At the San Diego Comic-Con, Dynamite announced that they would be launching the James Bond 007 monthly series. The title is set to be written by Warren Ellis and Jason Masters. The series will also feature cover by Dom Reardon
Ellis is a perfect fit for a Bond series based on his work in the spy genre. He also seems to demonstrate a unique take on not just the genre but the character himself, calling Bond:
England’s blunt instrument of international assault — the spiteful, vicious bastard of a faded empire that still wants the world to do as it’s bloody well told.
Damn, Warren! Sounds like this won't be your Daddy's James Bond but more like the rough and tumble Bond our grandparents read in the Ian Fleming novels, which is fitting given that the comic will be co-published with Ian Fleming Publications Ltd.
The series will also be a fresh take on the character, so don't expect your favorite Bond film Die Another Day to be adapted; these will be all new tales. The first is called "VARGR". Ellis also explained in an interview with CBR that they also plan on doing an origin of Bond as well! Expect 007 to hit shelves this November.
