Well, it is official. Not only will Elektra be in season 2 of the hit Netflix series Daredevil but she will be played by Élodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) . Jeph Loeb and the creative team over at Marvel continue their streak of amazing casting choices. Following the news of casting Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher; Marvel seems to really take their casting very seriously. Not only is the cast strong in their thespian abilities but they look the part, as if they walked or fought their way out of the comic book! Not that you have to look like the comic book character you're portraying but...remember when they cast Jennifer Garner to play the Greek assassin in 2003's Daredevil? Thankfully there's no signs of making a casting mistake like that any time soon!
Season 2 promises to be an exciting chapter for this rebooted Marvel franchise. Having the turbulent relationship between Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Elektra told over the span of ten episodes is the perfect approach as it will allow breathing room for characters to achieve a fully realized story arch. With the inclusion of Frank Castle (we've yet to see these two characters share any screen time) it aids a new and different challenge then the one Fisk presented. While these two characters have very different philosophies and morals, they are both soldiers.
Marvel's Daredevil is set for a 2016 release on Netflix.
