For the last month or so, I've been giving you, the readers, some Deadpool titles to get you prepared for the upcoming Deadpool movie. This week, instead of giving you a comic book to read before the movie, I decided to give you a quick rundown of who some of these characters are. I am sure some of you are going with your friend(s) who know Deadpool and all you know are the memes or a few random scenes you may have seen here and there. To help you out, I am going to do is give you a brief summery of who some of these people are so you don't go "Who is that" and "Why are they doing that" during the movie.
Wade Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool a.k.a. The star of the movie:
Known asThe Merc with a Mouth because he's a mercenary who won't stop talking. Deadpool may seem crazy, but Deadpool is NOT an idiot. He's smart enough to know that talking as much as he does distracts the people he is fighting. But when he stops talking and gets serious, you have a much bigger problem. He is one of the most dangerous men in comic books. So much so that people like T'Challa, Nick Fury, Wolverine, and S.H.I.E.L.D. have all gone to him when they need a job done right.
Possibly Deadpool's only friend. He may be a bit of a punk and a tech nerd...ok, he is totally a punk and a tech nerd, but he's great at his job. When Deadpool needs information on a job, a weapon, or something hacked into, Deadpool goes to Weasel. While he may be Wade's friend, Deadpool doesn't really know how to be a good friend in return. So Deadpool talks down to him and about him and pretty much treats him like crap. But Weasel talks just as bad about Deadpool as well. It's a very dysfunctional and fun relationship.
Despite the fact that she's blind, Althea (Al) is a tough old woman. She fought with Captain America in World War 2 and reminded him what it meant to be a hero. At some point in time, she did something to piss off a bunch of people. So much so that Deadpool was hired to kill her. Rather than kill her, he kidnapped her and kept her hostage. She ended up becoming a mother like figure to him (Deadpool's mom died when he was a kid). She pretty much said whatever she wanted to him and Deadpool would retort, but Al seemed much better at talking smack and setting him up for pranks than he was (which says a lot). I have a feeling that if her character is done right, she will be a popular character in the future.
Vanessa was a street walker living and working in Boston. Whenever Wade was in town, he made it a point to go see her and they would...have a good time. Vanessa was in love with Wade and as much as Wade tried to deny it, he loved her as well. When Deadpool got cancer, he pushed her away. Rather than seeing him wither away and die, he preferred that she would just move on. Saying that she was "just a kid" and he was "A thug...a merc".Vanessa eventually ended up developing mutant shapeshifting powers and used them to try and make some money and also pay Wade Wilson back for leaving her.
When Deadpool was being experimented on by the Weapon X Program, Ajax was the guy who kept the "patients" in line. He basically beat the crap out of them to keep them quiet and submissive. Unfortunately, Wade found out his real name(Francis) and how much it bothered him. Wade used this information to annoy him every chance he got. Wade would pay for it in abuse, but Wade kept on talking anyway. Ajaz ended up killing a bunch of Wade's "Friends" in the process, but Wade eventually avenged their deaths.
Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead:
Neither of them have any real connection to Deadpool other than being X-Men and Deadpool wants to be an X-Man. Also, Negasonic Teenage Warhead's real power is telepathy. But let's be honest, her power is much cooler in the movie. Colossus is the X-Men's bruiser. Big, metal, strong as all get out.
This scene with Blind Al was to good not to add. Enjoy
